City of La Mesa

The City of La Mesa is 9.2 square miles in area with a population approaching 60,000. La Mesa is located 14 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, just east of San Diego State University. It is immediately adjacent to the eastern boundary of the City of San Diego, along both sides of Interstate 8, and 11 miles from Downtown San Diego. The City of La Mesa shares borders with El Cajon, Lemon Grove, and an unincorporated section of San Diego County. The City of La Mesa is divided by Highway 125 (north/south) and Interstate 8 (east/west). The transportation network also includes two light-rail trolley (green and orange) lines, five trolley stations and five MTS bus routes.
