City of Escondido

Settled in a long valley in the coastal mountains of Southern California, Escondido provides an urban environment in the midst of Rolling Hills, Avocado Grove and Citrus Grove. Escondido lies about 18 miles inland, 100 miles south of Los Angeles, and 30 miles northeast of San Diego. The City of Escondido has a population of more than 144,831 people. The City's economic base is made up largely of small businesses, many of which are family-owned. The public transportation network includes two light-rail SPRINTER stations, the Greyhound and over twenty MTS and NCTD bus routes. Within the City of Escondido, there are nineteen elementary schools, five middle schools and seven high schools.
