Located in the mid-northern section of the city, Bonita is considered a rural and equestrian community. It has a walking trail that loops the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course. It also has a museum and an annual community event (Bonitafest). Bonita extends beyond the City of Chula Vista boundaries into the County of San Diego.
